Cor-Blue blue bolts for waterworks

Cor-Blue™ Bolts for Waterworks

Get superior corrosion protection and easy on/off properties for your T-head bolts.

Demand the Best Blue Bolts

All blue bolts are not created equal. Cor-Blue bolts are manufactured in the U.S. using a weathering steel and coated with FluoroKote#1® for a high-quality, consistent coating that’s smooth, resistant and durable in harsh environments.

Unlike blue-coated bolts made overseas, Cor-Blue bolts are hand sprayed, then checked for cure and adhesion coverage. The result is an even coating that makes assembling and disassembling T-head bolts quicker and easier.

Blue Bolts Coated to a T

For 20+ years, engineers have trusted Cor-Blue bolts to last in demanding waterworks applications. Cor-Blue continues to stand apart from other blue bolts by delivering:

Superior Corrosion Resistance

Benefit from up to 1,000 hours of corrosion resistance compared to galvanized bolts (per a standard ASTM B117 salt fog test rating).

Simple Assembly and Disassembly

Safely remove the bolts with wrenches – no torching, cutting or nut splitting is required, saving workers time in the field.

Reduced Torque Requirements

Eliminate galling and seizing – Cor-Blue bolts have a kinetic friction coefficient (or k-factor) of 0.06-0.08.

Rigorous Quality Control

Automated equipment ensures a precise, uniform coating thickness and that all solutions and chemicals are carefully monitored.

Often Imitated, Never Duplicated

While they may look similar to Cor-Blue, many generic blue bolts have inconsistencies due to the coating method used and coating applied. This leads to an uneven coat that makes it hard to achieve a tight tension, increasing the risk of leaks.

Cor-Blue bolts are carefully manufactured to maximize fastener life as well as to make sure they’re easy to take on and off. When looking for T-head bolts, don’t settle for any blue bolt – specify that you want Cor-Blue.

PROTINN – The Solution for Properly Torqued Fasteners

PROTINN solves long-standing torque load variation challenges with an industry-best ±10% k-factor. This means you get consistent and repeatable bolt loads on your flange assemblies.

In addition to a great k-factor for bolt tensioning, PROTINN also provides superior corrosion resistance. When applied at 1 mil (25 micron) dry film thickness over zinc-phosphated steel panels, the coating has exceeded 1,500 hours of the ASTM B117 salt fog test. With the same pretreatment, 30 cycles DIN 50018 (2.0 liters SO2) using the Kesternich test are achieved – both with less than 15% red rust.

The Power of Purple

“The testing we put PROTINN through was stringent and difficult, and PROTINN exceeded our laboratory’s expectations. PROTINN is the best coating our laboratory has tested to date.”
