While they may look similar to Cor-Blue, many generic blue bolts have inconsistencies due to the coating method used and coating applied. This leads to an uneven coat that makes it hard to achieve a tight tension, increasing the risk of leaks.

When applied at 1 mil (25 micron) dry film thickness over zinc-phosphated steel panels, the coating has exceeded 1,500 hours of the ASTM B117 salt fog test. With the same pretreatment, 30 cycles DIN 50018 (2.0 liters SO2) using the Kesternich test are achieved – both with less than 15% red rust.
